A brief summary of our core activities are below. These reflect the society's focus on bridging the gap between research and clinical practice for aphasia.

Events
If you would like to host an upcoming BAS event please contact the Chair or relevant committee member. We are happy to advertise relevant events organised by others on our website and in our newsletter.
In Autumn we run a International Conference which is for clinicians and academics. These are typically large events (of 120+ people) with presentations, posters, and sometimes workshops.
For more information please contact conference@bas.org.uk
Research update meeting
The RUM is a forum to present ongoing work in aphasia (which members may attend for free). Projects can be at any stage of development or completion. The meeting is designed to be an open and friendly environment, with an audience of clinicians, students, researchers and clinical-academics. It offers the opportunity to receive feedback on ideas and to keep up-to-date on current research activities. The full programme will be advertised in April.
For more information please see here or contact research-in-progress@bas.org.uk
Prizes and Funds
We do not offer bursaries for people with aphasia, but the Tavistock Trust does and information about these can be found using the following link: educational/vocational bursary for individuals with aphasia
Each year we run a competition for The British Aphasiology Society Student Project Prize and Student Essay/Case Report Prize. A deadline in Summer (June/July) is usually set. All entries are anonymised and graded by two judges from the BAS committee.
Prizes are awarded for the best work on acquired aphasia. For the student project prize, £300 is awarded and for the essay/case report prize, £150 is awarded.
For more information please see here or contact prizes@bas.org.uk
Members are entitled to apply for funds to attend events and conferences. There are separate funds available for BAS events (up to £200) and non-BAS events (up to £400).
Applications are considered twice a year (typically early Spring and Summer). Applications cannot be made after you have attended an event.
For more information please see here or contact conference-support-fund@bas.org.uk
Initiatives in Aphasia Seed Fund
BAS offers a small grant for UK based activities that involve and benefit people with aphasia and their family members/carers. Such activities may be led by or organised with the involvement of people with aphasia. Funding of up to £1000 is available per application. The deadline is usually in early Autumn.
