Tessa qualified as a Speech & Language Therapist in 1990. She worked in the NHS in Leeds for 21 years treating adults with acquired communication disorders, specialising in the treatment of adults with aphasia. She has a special interest in group therapy. She has a research MPhil on Perseveration in Aphasia from the University of York and has been a guest lecturer on the Speech & Language Therapy course at the University of Newcastle. For the past four years she has been working in independent practice as co-director of ACT for Yorkshire Ltd, providing therapy to adults with communication disorders following stroke, head injury and progressive neurological conditions.
